COST MP1106: Smart and Green Interfaces Conference – 2016

Between May 4th and 6th, Mr. Alex Julià, a Ph.D student from Nanosfun, assisted to the COST Action MP1106  workshop in Athens, Greece. This COST Action edition had the topic “Smart and Green Interfaces” (SGI), meaning these interfaces that are easily manipulated with well-controlled size and properties and eco-friendly features.
There, Alex Julià presented his work on the encapsulation of phase change materials to obtain novel switchable optical properties. To make the thermochromic system functional and reversible, its components must be confined in the same microambient and the mixing with external components (e.g. polymeric matrix) should be avoided.  A solution that allows to achieve these conditions is the micro/nanoencapsulation, which gives different advantages.
